On Thursday 19th November 2009 Arbour Vale School hosted the Berkshire Special schools annual Boccia tournament. The day was attended by Arbour Vale School, Holyport Manor School and Brookfields School. The event gave an opportunity for some of the new sports leaders at Arbour Vale to practice their leadership skills. We had six young leaders who organised, set up and ran the competition throughout the day. The tournament was split into two categories, the amber league and the red league. These leagues were chosen specifically to encourage students who do not get a chance to participate in some sporting areas due to their disability, an opportunity to represent their school. An overall number of twenty four students took part. For all of the students it was first time they had represented their schools this year. The tournament was a great success with Arbour Vale School winning the red league and Arbour Vale School and Holyport Manor school sharing the success in the amber league. A special well done was given to the sports leaders as everyone from all three schools commented on how well the leaders had led the day and how they had made it very enjoyable for everyone involved. Well done.
The New Year will see the introduction of some girls’ football teams in the area. Langley Hornets, Slough Irish and Jason Elwell's club Golden Eagles to name a few.
